AUTHOR: The Confluence team

Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a standardized modeling language to visualize the way systems are designed. With Confluence whiteboards, you can create and manage professional UML diagrams to help your team visualize systems of work and data flows.

How it works

  • UML shapes: Access a wide range of UML-specific shapes from the More Shapes in Confluence whiteboards → Shapes & Icons menu.

  • Multiple line labels: Double click on lines, or the Add text button in the floating toolbar, to add as many additional labels as you like.

  • Label positioning: Click and drag labels to position them above, on, or below lines.

  • Relationship arrowheads: Use arrowheads to indicate relationships between shapes. Access these from the floating toolbar for connector lines.

Availability

UML diagramming is available within Confluence whiteboards to all customers on Confluence Cloud Free and above plans.
